MTV verabschiedet sich
Mit 1. Jänner 2011 verabschiedet sich der Kult-Fernsehsender MTV vom Free-TV und ist damit ab nächstem Jahr nur noch nur noch in kostenpflichtiger Form über digitale Fernsehstationen zu empfangen. Im Gegenzug wird Viva zum zentralen Musik- und Entertainmentkanal im Free-TV. Zusätzlich startet MTV mit „MTV brand:new“ einen reinen Musiksender, der ebenfalls ausschließlich als Abosender auf digitalen Kabel-, Satelliten- und Breitbandplattformen zur Verfügung steht. Insidern zufolge hat MTV Deutschland nur noch 15.000 Zuschauer täglich, im Jahr 2000 waren es 4,5 Millionen.
The Black Pacific: Besetzungswechsel
Am 17. September veröffentlichte die Band um Ex-Pennywise-Sänger Jim Lindberg ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum, bereits jetzt gibt es einen ersten Besetzungswechsel! Bassist Davey Latter hat die Gruppe verlassen und wird durch Gavin Caswell ersetzt. Neu an Bord ist auch Marc Orrell von den Dropkick Murphys, der den zweiten Gitarristen geben wird. Das offizielle Statement von The Black Pacific lautet wie folgt:
„We’re excited to announce two new members of The Black Pacific: Gavin Caswell, who will be taking over on bass, and Marc Orrell, ex-Dropkick Murphys, on guitar. It turns out that our good friend and original bass player, Davey Latter, has to return to his drumming duties with his band, Everest. We knew all along when it came time to tour, it would be difficult if both bands were going out at the same time, and that’s exactly what happened. So although we’re bummed we’re not gonna have Davey along for the ride, we’re stoked to have two new rippers joining up with us. We just played with the new lineup at the Epicenter 2010 Festival, and after our October 15th show at The Key Club, we’ll be heading over to Europe for the Eastpak Antidote Tour with SUM 41, The Riverboat Gamblers and Veara. We are all definitely looking forward to getting out there and rocking some faces off.‘
